Carolina Cal is an Applied Theatre Practitioner and Founder & Artistic Director at Migrants in Action (MinA) – a community theatre group for Brazilian women survivors of gender-based violence in London.
She holds a BA in Acting from Brazil and a MA in Applied Theatre from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Cal has directed We still fight in the dark (2021) in partnership with Kings College London and People’s Palace Project, Our Stories (2020) and The Power of our Ancestors (2020) at Tate Modern Museum, both in collaboration with Latin American Women’s Aid (LAWA), the Podcast De MinA pra Mina (2020) and Being Female in Nigeria (2017) in collaboration with Crown Troupe of Africa. She also works for Latin American Women’s Rights Service (LAWRS) as community coordinator and workshop facilitator. A collaborator who has successfully leveraged partnerships to provide access to and engage minoritised communities in conversations surrounding notions of migration, identity, belonging, gender-based violence & intersectionality, aiming individual and collective empowerment.
